"I can't wait for the next classes to start" - Deloah Roycroft

Deloah Roycroft has been a GNA at Rock Glen Nursing Home in Baltimore, MD, for eight years. Now, through the 1199SEIU Training Fund, Deloah is taking computer class. This is her very first experience working with computers. These classes will help her in the future as she plans to move up from her current position.

She feels her computer knowledge is very helpful because she felt the world was passing her by, but now she can access information with the computer. Deloah also feels like she is a greater asset to Rock Glen because now she can perform duties using the computer like passing medicine to residents. “I am using the skills I learned in my computer class on a daily basis at Rock Glen and at home,” she says. “Now, I don’t have to wait for anyone, when I want to get on the computer I can”

Deloah feels her computer classes have also helped to make her more independent. She no longer has to relay on other people to assist her with using the computer to take care of business or research information. Deloah’s computer classes have peaked her interest in other classes the Training Fund offers. She is planning to sign up for the Advanced Computer Class and the Certified Nursing Assistant class in the near future. “I cant wait for the next classes to start,” she says.

Deloah thinks that all union members should take advantage of the classes offered through the Training Fund because they help to improve aspects of your personal and business life.
