Health Systems

Health Systems 1A represents nearly 10,000 members at 13 hospitals (including the St. Vincent’s/Catholic Medical Center network, and Brooklyn’s Kingsbrook, Victory Memorial and Brookdale Hospitals) and 7 nursing homes in New York City.

Health Systems 1B is comprised of over 15,000 members at 9 New York City hospitals, including the giant Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx, Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn and the Continuum Health Partners (Beth Israel and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Medical Centers and the DOCS clinics).

Health Systems 1C includes almost 3,000 members at one Queens Mental Health hospital and 40 community based centers with 200 sites in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and New Jersey, devoted to treating and providing services in mental health, mental retardation, substance abuse, community health, social service and dialysis.

Health Systems 2 represents 21,000 members at 26 hospitals (including Mt. Sinai, NYU and Long Island Jewish Medical Centers) and 6 nursing homes in Manhattan, Queens, and Long Island.

Health Systems 3 consists of some 14,000 members at 14 New York City hospitals (New York Presbyterian Medical Center, among them) and 6 nursing homes.

Health Systems 4 represents an amalgam of health and human service organizations. It includes League of Voluntary Hospital networks, New York City municipal hospital employees, and other health and non-health related organizations such as legal organizations, colleges and universities and housing developments. This diversity represents the range of the work force organized by our Union over many decades. 

Health Systems 5/6 has 22,000 members—non-professionals to RNs--at hospitals, medical colleges and nursing homes from the Bronx and Westchester Counties, up the Hudson Valley to Albany and beyond; as well as pharmacists and drugstore workers at Rite Aid, Pathmark and independent pharmacies; and workers at HIP and other medical groups.
