iSpeak on SICKO!

Have you seen Michael Moore's controversial new movie, SICKO!, about the denial of healthcare under our HMO-dominated healthcare system, and comparing it to government-run universal healthcare systems in other countries? What was your response? Did you agree or disagree with Michael Moore, and how?

Yes, it was very good. It demonstrates how people are forced to take extreme measures for their healthcare. When are we going to place in the insurance companies in check? I have relatives in Canada, so I will not be held hostage to the insurance companies. Doctors—not personnel with no medical background—should evaluate our health need. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege!

I think the truth hurts, but it's true, with this movie producer. Our government is a piece of -----. The leaders care only about themselves and their families and living it, while we struggle. It’s a shame.

Michael Moore's new film "SICKO!", is his best yet. With humor and intelligence, he drives home the point that a national healthcare system is the only sane response to our crisis. The labor movement needs to unite around national universal health care, use Moore's film as an organizing tool, and fight this battle till we win for all workers.

I agree with Michael Moore. The US system of healthcare is primitive and doesn’t conform to the "mission statement" of this country that this is "the land of the free, home of the brave." People are bogged down with student and healthcare costs. We are unable to "afford" to petition the government for better services for fear of losing our jobs or being surveyed by the FBI… There are places in the US without running water. Parts of the US are like a third world country. Why is the government spending trillions of dollars for the war in Iraq and then to rebuild Iraq when USA people are in the poor house due to systems put in place by the US government?

I love the way Michael Moore murdered Wolf Blitzer on CNN earlier this week. This film cannot be criticized by anyone who has a vested interest in this unfair system.

I think it’s great that Mr. Moore took the time to make a film like this that gives a lot of transparency to what goes on behind the scenes of this system. Once again, it shows that those in change love money more than people. Our health system need a total overhaul.

I think SICKO! is great and a “must see” for all our members, epecially Delegates. The most important element of the movie is that all over the world basic health care is a right and not a privilege. Our union should be showing it any chance possible.

I would not give Michael Moore the time of day.

Moore’s film is correct in many aspects of the healthcare industry. The sick patient has no control over which M.D. he sees for care.

I happen to think that the Moore film is a wake up call for the HMOs and managed care moguls in our society. The fact that health care is employment driven in the richest nation on earth is really sad, as is the fact that those that need health care the most are denied it. We need to wake up and realize that this issue needs all of our attention, not just those in need. It is a sad reality that most of us one day will be in need of health care when we can least afford it and if something is not done soon to fix the current situation. the results will be catastrophic.
